Vectron International Supported by OELCHECK´s Experience to Provide ViSmart™ Viscosity Sensor to German Customers

Vectron's Low Shear ViSmart is First Viscosity Sensor Product Validated by OELCHECK

NUREMBERG, GERMANY — The Sensors & Advanced Packaging (SAP) business unit of Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions, today announced from Sensors + Test that it has entered into a ground-breaking partnership with OELCHECK GmbH, the world leader in lubricant analysis and related consultation. OELCHECK is now rigorously testing Vectron's low shear ViSmart™ viscosity sensor in various oil types, including diesel, hydraulic, turbine and gearbox oils. OELCHECK will accompany the field tests of the ViSmart sensor together with its oil analysis reports supported by their deep knowledge in tribology for customers in Europe, as part of its overall services offered in regard to oil condition monitoring and data analysis. The two companies will be discussing their joint offering and demonstrating Vectron's ViSmart sensor in Vectron's booth, Hall 7, Booth 7-302 at the Sensors + Test exhibition in Nuremberg.

To determine the ability of Vectron's low shear ViSmart sensor to measure and monitor viscosity changes as a function of oil condition for both fixed and mobile assets, OELCHECK is testing the sensor across a wide temperature spectrum ranging from -10 degrees Celsius to 105 degrees Celsius in various oil types, including diesel, hydraulic, turbine and gearbox oils. Correlation functions are being created to map the data collected from the ViSmart sensor to industry benchmark data collected from a standard lab rheometer. This will determine whether the ViSmart sensor is capable of measuring and monitoring viscosity as well as industry standard lab instruments. OELCHECK is willing to support the introduction of the ViSmart sensor together with the use of oil analysis to find out if the sensor is a qualified small, fully embeddable and real-time addition to standard laboratory sample tests.

The low shear ViSmart viscosity sensor uses robust and reliable semiconductor technology, has no moving parts, and is sealed for complete immersion. It is unaffected by vibration or flow conditions, and does not need field calibration and is packaged in a very portable, lightweight size at 0.5 x 3.0 inches (12.7 mm x 76.2 mm) and 8 ounces. It measures viscosity of lubricants from ISO VG 10 to ISO VG 460 at 40 degrees Celsius and is rated for temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius in the standard package, with custom options and configurations available for specific industry applications and process requirements.
