Vectron International Looks Ahead to 2008, Announces Successful Completion of 2007
Major Milestones and Highlights for 2007 Include Revolutionary New Sensor Technology, Strategic Entry into MEMs Market and Introduction of Advanced Precision Oscillator Products
— Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions, today announced the highlights and milestones from a successful 2007. Through a continued investment in the development of innovative precision oscillator products, as well as the advancement of various strategic collaborations and acquisitions, Vectron delivered customized solutions to enable customers to bring products to market faster and achieve their long-term visions.

New Product Innovations Deliver Enhanced Performance and Functionality in Smaller Footprints
Leveraging its well-established expertise in manufacturing precision oscillators, Vectron introduced a range of advanced precision frequency control products in 2007 aimed at addressing customers' continued demands for higher frequencies, low cost designs and miniaturization, and more technologically sophisticated, integrated solutions.
Vectron's Timing & Synchronization and Disciplined Oscillator (DO) Modules solutions, including the recently-launched C6300 DO family, incorporate functionality that customers traditionally need to engineer themselves into a single, high-performance module, enabling them to realize reduced costs and speed time-to-market without sacrificing quality or performance for their complex timing applications.

Strategic Collaboration Drives Push into New Markets
- 5116 high-reliability Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator (VCXO). Radiation tolerant to 100 kRads(Si) total dose, the 5116 high-reliability VCXO for the first time extend the capabilities of industry-standard MIL-PRF-55310/27 clock oscillators into the space market.
- C3430 Frequency Controlled Crystal Oscillator (FCXO). The C3430 family leverages an integrated crystal-based phase locked loop (PLL) circuit to enable customers to convert one input frequency into as many as four independent output frequencies to simplify clock distribution.
- VCS3 crystal oscillator (XO). Vectron's smallest XO to date, the VCS3 offers a hermetically sealed ceramic package that is 77% smaller than today's standard 7mm x 5mm packaging.
Throughout 2007, Vectron continued its efforts to deliver highly scalable, reliable and programmable solutions to customers by leveraging its strategic partnerships and collaborations. In late February, Vectron began to deliver on the promise of its collaboration with Discera, Inc., a developer of CMOS MEMs resonator technology, as the two companies began sampling their first MEMs-based oscillators to meet the needs of markets where quartz solutions have been pushed to the limits in terms of scalability, cost and processing.
Combining Vectron's technology infrastructure and quartz oscillator IP with Discera's expertise in MEMs, Vectron's VMC2 oscillator (Discera's MOS1) makes MEMs oscillators a reality for electronics manufacturers who have been waiting for a reliable, scalable, cost-effective alternative to quartz oscillators. Through this collaboration, Vectron is helping to expand the use of MEMs oscillators to new product areas such as frequency control, smart sensors, filters and hybrid solutions for commercial, military and space applications.

Acquisition Brings First-of-its-Kind Sensor Technology to Market
In January 2007, Vectron acquired BiODE, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of fluid viscosity sensors and viscometer readers, marking Vectron's continued commitment to driving change and innovation in the $50 billion (USD) global sensor market through the delivery of ground-breaking acoustic wave sensor technology. In October 2007, Vectron changed the name of its Sensors & Advanced Packaging (SAP) business unit to SenGenuity to more closely represent the business' commitment to developing innovative and ingenious solutions for sensor applications.
Vectron's SenGenuity business unit offers the ViSmart™ viscosity sensor, a first-of-its-kind in-line fluid viscosity monitoring technology that provides customers time and cost savings as well as increased scalability through the delivery instantaneous and continuous real-time, in-process viscosity and temperature measurement. The ViSmart product line serves as the foundation of Vectron's fluid condition-based monitoring solution suite.
