Vectron International Announces TM-056 Synchronous Timing Module for Stratum 3 Clock Distribution

Synchronous Clock Distribution Module Provides Simplified Solution for Digital Synchronization in Wireline Infrastructure Networks

HUDSON, NH TM-056 Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions, today announced the release of the TM-056 Integrated Timing Module. The TM-056 is a highly sophisticated synchronous clock distribution module that simplifies stratum 3 clock distribution. Such modules are a key enabler of the digital synchronization network. By combining a number of key building blocks, the module allows customers in the wireline infrastructure market to cut costs and streamline design cycles.

The TM-056 integrates a number of key building blocks: a precision crystal oscillator (Stratum 3 OCXO), a digital PLL (DPLL), an analog PLL (APLL), and control circuitry. This clock module distributes synchronization from a source to other Network Elements (NEs) such as digital switches, Digital Cross-connect Systems (DCSs) or Add-Drop Multiplexers (ADMs) for wireline infrastructure customers that require Stratum 3 or clock distribution.

The module has a simple control interface, status and alarm indications and fully automatic operation, resulting in seamless system integration. The TM-056 uses Vectron's digital and analog phase locked loop (DPLL and APLL) technology and can lock to two reference frequencies automatically. The module has dual output clocks ranging from 8 kHz to 77.76 MHz.

Other features include:
  • Support for three modes of operation: free-run, holdover and locked
  • ntegration of input clock selector, local oscillator, DPLL, APLL, and microprocessor for a single stratum 3 synchronization solution
  • On board oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) exceeds clock performance criteria of Telcordia GR-1244
  • Two synchronized outputs up to 77.76 MHz as specified by the customer
  • Module status monitor indicates input clock quality, operational mode, and alarm condition
Designed with a variety of features and options, Vectron's timing modules can easily be customized to optimize stability, physical size and cost for a specific customer application.
